A single-cylinder engine is exactly what it sounds like: one cylinder drives the crankshaft. A single is light, narrow and simple to maintain, and it pulls well at low engine speeds. The trade-off is vibration. A single vibrates more than engines with several cylinders.

If a bike on this list interests you, check the exact generation and model year of the one you’re looking at. Match both to its entry on the list before you go any further. Twins and engines with more cylinders don’t count, and neither do electric motors or scooters.

Every motorcycle below has single-cylinder engines from the factory, confirmed against manufacturer information. Where a trim or special edition shares it with the base bike, only the base bike is listed. A model that is missing here may still have it; it means we have not confirmed it yet.
