150 EXC (MY2025)

Featherweight 2-Stroke Technical Weapon

The Machine's Character

A 144 cc two-stroke single making 29 hp and 17 lb-ft reads small on paper and rides nothing like it. KTM builds the 150 EXC as a full-size enduro machine with a featherweight engine in it: liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, six speeds, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear, and a WP XPLOR Split-Cartridge Fork with the WP XPLOR PDS Shock out back, adjustable at both ends. Nothing in the chassis is a junior-sized compromise. In this class it is the bike you pick when the terrain, not the horsepower number, decides who gets up the hill.

Ridden hard, it pays back a rider who carries momentum and reads the ground instead of pointing and squirting. That makes it a machine for experienced off-road riders working technical, low-speed terrain, and it stays entertaining on faster trail because it never feels like it is fighting you. The honest part: this is a race engine with a race engine's appetite for attention, and some owners have had the crank seal blow and the clutch fail at around 12 hours. Budget the time and the money for upkeep rather than assuming a small engine means small maintenance.

Alternatives to the KTM 150 EXC

If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this KTM 150 EXC. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
