CRF 450 R (MY2017)

The Holeshot-Hunting Race Tool

The Machine's Character

This CRF450R is a closed-course race bike, and Honda built it that way without apology. The 450 cc Unicam single makes 60 hp and sits in an aluminum twin-spar frame designed around one idea: keep the mass central and the center of gravity low. That is what lets it carry aggressive corner speed through deep ruts. Ride Modes and Launch Control come standard, so you can calm the delivery for a loamy start or sharpen it for hard-packed afternoon motos. Adjustable suspension at both ends means the chassis can be set up for your weight and your track, not a showroom average.

It is classic Honda in the best sense. There's no drama in the package, only a machine that was clearly thought through by people who race. The narrow cockpit and flat seat let you move freely from tank to fender, it's built tough, and the aftermarket support is deep, so the bike keeps paying you back as your riding develops. It is for the committed motocross racer or the serious hobby rider who lives at the track on weekends. The honest caveat: this is a race machine first. A 1.7 gal (6.3 L) tank, a 37.8 in (960 mm) seat and an equipment list with nothing beyond what racing needs ask for commitment everywhere else.
