650 DSX (MY2021)

Cheap Miles, Real Confidence

The Machine's Character

The 650 DSX makes a simple case: a proper-looking middleweight adventure bike that costs very little to buy or to run. At its heart sits a proven 652 cc liquid-cooled single making 48 hp and 44 lb-ft. That's modest on paper, but it's easy to live with, and I've seen it return 56 mpg (US) from a 4.8 gal (18 L) tank. Voge fits more than the price suggests: ABS, a TFT display with smartphone connectivity, USB charging, an adjustable windscreen, LED lighting and a center stand all come as standard. It looks like a smart buy, and that's exactly what Voge needs it to be.

Out on the road it's friendly and light, with a sure-footed calm that newer riders will appreciate straight away. Stable at highway speed, generous lean clearance, and 9.0 in (229 mm) of ground clearance for gravel and gentle trails. The honest caveat for an adventure bike: 7.1 in (180 mm) of travel at each end is below what I want for serious backcountry work. The fork isn't adjustable at all, and only the rear shock takes preload. Long-term durability is also unproven. Some owners report minor quality-control niggles, and nobody knows yet how well it resists wet-weather corrosion. Buy it for easy miles on a budget, not for hard off-road punishment.

As a relatively new brand in the UK, long-term durability and resistance to wet-weather corrosion are not yet established. Some owners report minor quality control niggles, and the overall reliability rating from owner surveys is average.
