300CL-X (MY2023)
City Nimble, Zero Drama
The Machine's Character
The 300CL-X is CFMOTO's neo-retro roadster for people who want a real motorcycle without the weight, the cost or the intimidation. The engine is a 292 cc liquid-cooled single with a balance shaft and a forged piston, good for 28 hp at 8,750 rpm and 19 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm. It's bolted into a steel trellis frame with an upside-down fork, a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. Electronics are kept to the essentials: ABS and ride modes. Add the LED headlight and you get vintage looks on modern hardware, all at 342 lb (155 kg) wet. Simple recipe.
On the road it's a light, forgiving bike that turns with very little effort and feels at home in city traffic, yet it stays surprisingly settled when the pace climbs. The power comes in smooth and linear, so nothing catches you out. Running costs stay low, which matters when a bike is your daily transport. It's for new riders, commuters and anyone who wants an honest back-road companion with style. The caveat: 28 hp is 28 hp. The fork has no adjustment, and there's no traction control behind you. If you want to chase big bikes, look elsewhere. For everything else: it fits.
