Full Race Kit, Road Plate
The FE 450 is a competition enduro that happens to carry a license plate. The 450 cc liquid-cooled single makes 63 hp and 33 lb-ft, hung in a chromoly steel frame with a fully adjustable upside-down fork and shock, 11.8 inches of travel at each end, and 14.6 inches of ground clearance. Traction control and ride modes are standard, and they do real work when grip vanishes under you. Nothing on this bike is decorative. Every figure in the spec table points the same direction: hard terrain, ridden quickly, by someone who knows what they are doing.
It rides like what it is, a race machine with lights. Drive arrives early and keeps climbing, the chassis stays honest when the ground turns ugly, and parts support is deep enough that you can set it up exactly your way. It ages by the hour, not the mile. Fuel pumps and filters want attention around the 200 to 300 hour mark, and the clutch needs watching. The seat sits at 37.4 in (950 mm), so shorter riders will be tiptoeing, and the 2.2 gal (8.5 L) tank keeps you on a short leash. Buy it if you already ride hard and don't mind wrenching.
Spec sheets don't ride bikes, but they set the baseline.

Tire tread cracking recall (NHTSA 22V-588)
Affected motorcycles were equipped with TKC80 tires that could develop tread groove cracks, posing a safety risk. Dealers replaced tires free of charge. Inclusion of FE 450 models is likely as part of the KTM/Husqvarna recall population.
Clutch slave cylinder O-ring failure
The Magura clutch slave cylinder can develop an O-ring leak, leading to loss of clutch fluid and eventual clutch failure. Often occurs on the trail.
Clutch slippage under heavy load
Some riders report clutch slippage, especially under heavy load, likely due to worn clutch plates. Regular inspection recommended.
Engine flameout / stalling at low speed
The engine may stall or flame out during low-RPM technical riding, often due to fueling or intake issues. A clogged air filter can worsen the problem.
Fuel pump / filter degradation
Fuel pumps and filters may need replacement around 200-300 hours, leading to poor running or failure to start.

Forget spec-sheet bragging. Here's who the FE 450 is actually built for.
This is your bike. Ledges, sand, and technical desert lines are exactly what it was built for, and the suspension gives you room to push. Plan fuel stops carefully around that 2.2 gal tank.
Made for Kane Creek Recreation Area · Moab · Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area
It handles track duty properly, with the chassis and suspension to back it up. Just know you're buying an enduro build, so expect to adjust gearing and setup for a motocross layout.
Made for Loretta Lynn's Ranch · Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area · Pala Raceway
Wrong tool for route logistics. A 2.2 gal tank, a 37.4 in seat, and service measured in hours make multi-day mileage a chore, however good it is on the hardest sections of the route.
Made for Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route · Southern California Backcountry Discovery Route · Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route
If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.
Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Husqvarna FE 450. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
Compare it with every bike that shares the same spec or equipment.
