TE 250 Heritage (MY2023)

Two-Stroke Dirt Specialist

The Machine's Character

The TE 250 Heritage is a 249 cc two-stroke single built for one job: getting you through terrain that stops other bikes. Throttle body injection gives it strong, controllable pull down low, and it still revs out with the snap a two-stroke should have. Peak figures are 52 hp and 31 lb-ft, but the numbers aren't the story here. Rideability is. A chromoly steel frame, WP XACT suspension with 11.8 in (300 mm) of travel at both ends and 13.9 in (354 mm) of ground clearance put it at the sharp end of the enduro class. The Heritage graphics add the Swedish colors on top. Substance first, style second.

On the trail it's light on its feet and the damping is plush and predictable, so you pick a line through rocks and ruts and the bike just follows. Both ends are adjustable, the aftermarket is huge, and the thing is tough and easy to wrench on. It's for experienced off-road riders who want to work on technique, not for anyone looking for comfort or range. Be honest about the upkeep: fork seals can start to leak under heavy use, and some bikes show stalling or hesitation on acceleration, potentially down to the ignition coil or fuel delivery. Ride modes are the only electronic help you get. No ABS, no traction control. That's the deal!

If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Husqvarna TE 250 Heritage. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
