Displacement is the combined swept volume of all cylinders. It’s the figure riders use to sort motorcycles into size classes. Here’s the catch: inside one size class, power, weight and character still differ widely. Those differences follow the number of cylinders, the state of tune and the type of bike, so the size figure alone won’t tell you how an engine behaves on the road.

When a bike on this list catches your eye, pin down the exact generation and model year you’re looking at. A bike counts here by its confirmed displacement, not by the number in its model name. Scooters don’t make the list, and neither does any motorcycle whose confirmed displacement falls outside the range.

Every motorcycle below has an engine of 950 to 1,050cc from the factory, confirmed against manufacturer information. Where a trim or special edition shares it with the base bike, only the base bike is listed. A model that is missing here may still have it; it means we have not confirmed it yet.
