Suzuki GSR600 vs GSX-R 600: two kinds of bike, and who each one is for.

So which one do you buy?
Buy the GSR600 if…
Daily commuting & city riding
Clear edge: GSR600
When the bike has to work for a living, the GSR600 wins the commute clearly.
The GSX-R 600 has the edge if…
Sporty riding on twisty roads
Small edge: GSX-R 600
Through a string of corners, the GSX-R 600 feels a little more eager. It's down to a sportier chassis and better suspension. The gap is small, so ride both.
What makes each one tick
GSR600
The GSR600's inline-four isn't peaky; it pulls broad through the middle before there's a top-end rush up high. High in first, the front comes up before you've asked. The brake lever stops it, and the calipers haven't kept pace with the frame around them. The rear tidies downshifts before turn-in.
Nils rode the GSR600 in Greece, Hungary, and Styria in 2006, in Austria and Hungary in 2007, and in 2009 (NastyNils Testride).
GSX-R 600
The GSX-R 600 keeps its real shove for the top of the tach, where there's a surge that builds the further the needle swings. Each shift slots home cleanly. On track, it's running close to liter-bike pace.
