Z 900 RS (MY2025)
Z1 Soul, Inline-Four Substance
The Machine's Character
The Z900RS answers a simple question: can a modern motorcycle carry the look of Kawasaki's 1970s Z1 without faking anything underneath? This generation says yes. The teardrop tank, the ducktail tail section and the period-correct detailing make it a real homage, not a costume. Underneath sits a liquid-cooled 948 cc inline-four making 113 hp and 73 lb-ft, in a steel trellis frame. It comes with ABS and traction control as electronic aids. The mechanical kit includes a slipper clutch, adjustable suspension at both ends and an LED headlight. Few bikes in the retro class get purist style this right while keeping the modern technology in the background.
On the road the four is smooth and quick but never threatening. The chassis stays approachable, so newer riders and old hands both settle in fast. Reliability is a real strength, and the aftermarket support is deep if you want to make the bike your own. Who is it for? The rider who buys with their heart but still expects the bike to work every single day. The caveats are honest ones. It weighs 476 lb (216 kg) wet and the seat sits 33.3 in (845 mm) up. A small number of owners have also reported cam chain tensioner noise, which seems to be sporadic rather than widespread.
