SR (MY2022)

The Silent Stoplight Sprinter

The Machine's Character

The Zero SR is the way into Zero's full-size naked platform. It uses the same steel trellis frame and core architecture as the SR/F, with a detuned powertrain that still makes 74 hp and a massive 122 lb-ft of torque. There's no clutch, no gearbox and no oil to change, and the belt final drive keeps the upkeep simple. The chassis is a proper motorcycle, not a scooter with ambitions. You get a Showa SFF-BP fork, adjustable suspension at both ends and a 57.1 in (1,450 mm) wheelbase. ABS, traction control, ride modes, cruise control and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity all come standard.

It's at its best in the first hundred feet from a light. Throttle response is clean and direct, and the low-end pull makes city traffic feel easy. The heavy battery sits low, so the SR holds a line through sweeping corners with a calm, predictable stability. Maintenance is minimal and running costs stay low, which suits a rider who wants something modern that just works. The caveats are real, though. Top speed is 104 mph (167 km/h), and cornering ABS is an option, not standard. On top of that, the brake light doesn't come on when you slow down on regen alone, so the car behind you gets no warning.

Alternatives to the Zero SR

If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Zero SR. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
