The Low Rider S is the factory custom in Harley-Davidson's Softail line that's built with performance in mind. Its heart is the Milwaukee-Eight 117, a 1923 cc 45° V-twin cooled by air and oil. On paper, this hardware is for you if you want a cruiser's presence but plan to ride harder than the boulevard asks. The seat is low at 28.0 in (710 mm) and the wheelbase is long at 63.6 in (1,615 mm). The mid-mount foot controls, though, put you in a more upright, committed stance than a classic feet-forward layout. At 679 lb (308 kg) wet, it's a heavy machine with a low center of gravity, and the 5.0 gal (18.9 L) tank allows decent stretches between fuel stops. Everything here points to a performance cruiser for solo riding. Back roads first, boulevard second.

Clutch cable adjuster prone to break

The in-line clutch cable adjuster on this Low Rider S can crack and break. It sits under its rubber boot on the frame downtube, where a clip holds the cable to the frame. When it fails, the cable suddenly goes slack and the lever can no longer disengage the clutch.
Rear shock adjuster mounting tab recall

In affected 2018-2024 Softail models including the Low Rider S, the rear shock adjuster mounting tab can fracture, causing the adjuster to contact and cut into the rear tire, risking sudden pressure loss. Harley issued a recall to install a bracket to limit adjuster movement.
