Kawasaki Versys 1100 (MY2025-SE) vs Triumph Tiger 1200 GT (PV01-Pro)

Kawasaki Versys 1100 vs Triumph Tiger 1200 GT: long days, loaded bags, one choice to make.

Rolling on in top gear, the Kawasaki Versys 1100 doesn't shake at all as it pulls in one long, silky surge. On the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT, there's a twin-like throb from the triple and a hard punch out of the midrange. Higher up, it's all rorty howl.

So which one do you buy?

The Versys 1100 has the edge if…

Daily commuting & city riding

A touch ahead: Versys 1100

The Versys 1100 makes slightly more sense as a commuter. Don't read much into a gap this small.

Keeping running costs low

Slight edge: Versys 1100

Running costs lean slightly toward the Versys 1100. A well-kept example of either matters more.

What makes each one tick

Versys 1100

The Versys doesn't wait for revs, and there's drive from its inline-four right off the bottom. Across a broken patch on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Showa suspension soaks up the hit before it reaches the seat. There's a tall sixth. At highway speed, you'll hear the four hum quietly.

Tiger 1200 GT

On a back road, the Tiger's chassis lets it flick from one bend straight into the next. There's a gravelly answer from the T-plane crank to every twist of the throttle. It won't let you switch off. Up top, it's still rushing for more.

Wrong job for both

Versys 1100

No confirmed faults on file yet. That's not the same as fault-free.

Tiger 1200 GT

  • Random engine stalling Some early-build bikes exhibited stalling when coming to a stop or at idle, often traced to a software glitch. A ECU update and a new clutch-spring/bleed procedure resolved the issue.
  • Clutch hydraulic system requires frequent bleeding Some owners report air entering the clutch line, requiring regular bleeding to maintain proper engagement. In a few cases, the clutch slave cylinder may need replacement.
