BMW F 900 GS (K81) vs Voge DS 900 X (MY2024)
BMW F 900 GS vs Voge DS 900 X: which one you'd rather spend the big miles on.
Over badly broken pavement, the BMW F 900 GS stays planted and doesn't make you wrestle for a line. The Voge DS 900 X meets those hits on KYB suspension that's fully adjustable. Its damping is yours to set.
So which one do you buy?
The F 900 GS has the edge if…
Real off-road capability
Narrow edge: F 900 GS
The F 900 GS nudges ahead where the road turns to gravel. Thank lighter steering and a tougher build for that. Close enough that a test ride on dirt is worth it.
Sporty riding on twisty roads
Small edge: F 900 GS
On a winding road, the F 900 GS comes out a touch ahead. Put it down to harder acceleration. You wouldn't bet much on a gap like that.
Keeping running costs low
Inches ahead: F 900 GS
The F 900 GS is a touch easier on the wallet to run. Condition still matters more than the model.
Daily commuting & city riding
By a nose: F 900 GS
On the way to work, the F 900 GS asks a little less of you. What tips it: friendlier manners. Close enough that the test ride should settle it.
What makes each one tick
F 900 GS
From the first mile, the wide bar and controls of the F 900 GS fall right where you reach, and the seat feels like you've owned the bike a season. Between the brake lever and corner exit, the throttle doesn't catch you off guard. The pegs buzz at all revs. The top end spins freely behind a deep exhaust note.
Nils rode the F 900 GS in Portugal in 2024, and in the Canary Islands in 2025 (NastyNils Testride).
DS 900 X
You'll hear the DS 900 X before it moves, its twin thumping out an off-beat idle. The twin shoves out of bends.
