Beautiful Hooligan, Barely Restrained
The Hypermotard V2 builds the supermoto recipe around an 890 cc, liquid-cooled 90° V-twin with variable intake timing. It's rated at 120 hp at 10,750 rpm and 69 lb-ft at 8,250 rpm. All of it sits in an aluminum monocoque frame, and the complete bike weighs 397 lb (180 kg) wet. On paper that's a light machine for a twin with this much output. Ducati also fits a full set of electronics as standard: cornering ABS, traction control, ride modes and a quickshifter that works both up and down, all shown on a TFT display. The design is sharply modern, with real character. It doesn't blend in!
Read the hardware and the intent is clear. There's 6.7 in (170 mm) of travel up front and 6.3 in (160 mm) at the rear, adjustable at both ends. It runs 17-inch wheels on a 120/70 front and a wide 190/55 rear. All of that points to tight, broken back roads and quick direction changes, not interstate miles. The 3.3 gal (12.5 L) tank fits that brief: short, intense outings, a run through town and then up into the hills. This bike is for you if you'd rather have a sharp, characterful machine than touring range. Fun comes first.
