Bonneville Speedmaster Icon Edition (MY2025)

Heritage Looks, Real Torque

The Machine's Character

The Speedmaster Icon Edition is a limited run built around one idea: the 1907 Triumph logo, revived as gold script on hand-painted Sapphire Black and Aluminum Silver with bespoke coachlining. Underneath sits the British take on the feet-forward cruiser: a liquid-cooled 1200 cc parallel twin with 77 hp and 78 lb-ft, the torque peaking at just 4,000 rpm, in a steel double-cradle frame. The electronics stay in the background where they belong: ABS, traction control and ride modes are standard, and so is cruise control. That's what I want from a retro: the old feeling with modern function. Style with credibility!

This is a bike for a calm rhythm: small towns, back roads, the long way home. The twin pulls from low revs, so you rarely chase the gearbox, and the chassis is more capable than the laid-back stance suggests. Build quality is solid, and the aftermarket lets you make it yours over the years. The caveats are plain. It weighs 580 lb (263 kg) wet, the tank holds just 3.2 gal (12 L), and the fork has no adjustment at all. The Icon Edition's case is paint and a logo, not extra hardware. If the look gets you, that's enough.

An elevated view of a deep autumn canyon, likely Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. Steep rocky cliff faces and forested mountain ridges frame a narrow valley where a winding two-lane road passes below. Deciduous trees display full autumn color — gold, orange, and amber — interspersed with green conifers on the steep slopes. A single dark vehicle is visible far below on the road. Snow-dusted mountain peaks rise in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

The 'Should I Buy It?' Score

Forget spec-sheet bragging. Here's who the Bonneville Speedmaster Icon Edition is actually built for.

A scenic view of Angeles Crest Highway winding through rugged Southern California canyon terrain. Rocky mountainsides with golden earth tones frame the asphalt road with tight sweeping curves. Double yellow center line visible, sparse vegetation along the shoulders, clear blue sky with white clouds. Daylight, dry conditions. Iconic location for canyon-road enthusiasts.

This is your bike: classic looks, a calm, torque-rich twin and cruise control for the stretches between small towns. Just plan your fuel stops, because 3.2 gal (12 L) doesn't last long.

Best cruiser for Sturgis?

You get the feet-forward stance and a hand-painted finish that stands out in any rally parking lot. It's a British twin with its own identity, though, so be honest about how much the badge matters to you.

Best motorcycle for Texas Hill Country?

For a relaxed weekend loop with a barbecue stop, it fits nicely. If your weekends are about pace, 580 lb (263 kg) and a non-adjustable fork will hold you back.

Alternatives to the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Icon Edition

If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Icon Edition. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
