Fat Boy 117 (FLFB-MY2025)

Maximum Style, Maximum Torque

The Machine's Character

You can spot a Fat Boy from a block away, and this generation keeps the formula intact: solid Lakester wheels, a massive 7-inch LED headlamp, a 240/40-18 rear tire and a steel-tube Softail frame stretched to a 65.0 in (1651 mm) wheelbase. At its heart sits the air/oil-cooled Milwaukee-Eight 117, a 1923 cc 45° V-twin making 103 hp at 4,800 rpm and 126 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm. Harley-Davidson says it delivers immense torque and strong low-end grunt. The spec sheet agrees: peak torque arrives at just 3,000 rpm. Cornering ABS, traction control and ride modes come standard. Iconic look, modern safety net.

On paper, the brief is clear. A 25.9 in (658 mm) seat, 694 lb (315 kg) wet and that long wheelbase point to the boulevard and the open two-lane, not tight city traffic. That's what a cruiser is supposed to be: lots of metal, low and long, with real presence. Cruise control, TPMS and a USB port suggest a bike meant for covering real miles, and the 5.0 gal (18.9 L) tank fits that picture. The fork is non-adjustable, but the rear shock takes preload, so you can set the rear for what you're carrying. It's built for the rider who buys with the heart and still wants proper safety hardware. Muscle first!

A long, straight paved road stretches toward the horizon through agricultural fields in Vermont. Power lines and a mailbox are visible along the roadside. Lush green vegetation, cumulus clouds, good daylight conditions. The landscape is flat to gently rolling. Asphalt pavement appears to be in good condition. Rural American setting.

Known issues

  • Airbox backplate breather port may be blocked (recall, NHTSA Recall 26V-270)

    cooling rare Recall

On certain 2025-2026 FLFB models, the airbox backplate breather port may be blocked, causing pressure build-up in the crankcase. When the dipstick is removed, oil can be ejected, increasing injury risk. Recalled for inspection and repair. (NHTSA recall, 0.4% affected)

Alternatives to the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 117

If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 117. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
