Beautiful Italian V-Twin Made Honest
The Panigale V2 is built around an 890 cc 90° V-twin making 120 hp and 69 lb-ft, and the whole package is shaped by that choice. Ducati went for usable midrange and low weight instead of a peak-power number, and at 395 lb wet the bike answers steering input the moment you ask. The chassis geometry backs it up: a 57.7 in wheelbase, steep steering head, and reduced trail give it sharp turn-in without the nervousness that usually comes with it. Quick Shift up and down, ride-by-wire power modes, wheelie control, launch control and cornering ABS come standard. Design and build quality score at the top of my scale.
This is a supersport you can ride hard without paying for it afterward. Lean clearance is effectively unlimited on the road, feedback through the front is honest, and it stays planted at speed instead of shimmering under you. It suits the rider who wants Italian presence and genuine pace but doesn't want a machine that punishes ordinary skill. The honest caveat: 33.1 in of seat height and clip-on ergonomics are still a committed riding position, and 4.0 gal at 44 mpg means you plan fuel stops on long days. There are also early-build reports worth checking, listed further down this page.
Spec sheets don't ride bikes, but they set the baseline.

ABS fuse reversal (recall 25V838)
On certain units built between Feb 4 and May 23, 2025, the ABS pump and control unit fuses may have been reversed in the wiring harness, causing the 10A fuse to blow under prolonged ABS activation, potentially leading to loss of ABS and wheel lockup. An ABS error warning appears on the dashboard.
Engine failure with metal shavings in oil
One owner reported engine seizure at 120 miles with metal particles in oil and loss of cylinder compression; dealer found metal shavings in sump and cylinders, requiring engine replacement.
Water pump hose clamp failure
Some owners report water pump hose clamps failing, causing coolant leaks. Ducati addressed this under warranty via a factory repair bulletin.
Quickshifter slips into neutral between 1st and 2nd gear
One owner reports the quickshifter occasionally misses shifts into neutral instead of 2nd gear.
Rear brake squeal
A few owners note loud rear brake squeal at low speeds, though braking performance remains unaffected.

Forget spec-sheet bragging. Here's who the Panigale V2 is actually built for.
This is the bike for Angeles Crest. Light, sharp on turn-in, and honest enough through the front that you can build speed corner by corner instead of guessing at it.

A strong track-day tool that won't intimidate you. Stability under braking and lean clearance are there; the 120 hp keeps the focus on your lines rather than on hanging on.
Made for WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca · Barber Motorsports Park · Circuit of The Americas
Made for the Dragon and Cherohala. It's light enough to flick through tight repeated corners all day, and the midrange means you're not chasing revs between them.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Ducati Panigale V2. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
