GTV 310 (MY2025)

4 / 5 NastyNils Rating · against its class

Urban King in Vintage Clothes

The Machine's Character

The GTV 310 is the Vespa that leans hardest on its own history. The headlight sits on the front fender, the lowest in the Vespa range, and the tubular handlebar is left exposed: both nods to the original 1946 scooter. Underneath, the hardware is current: a 310 cc liquid-cooled HPE single with 25 hp at 6,500 rpm and 21 lb-ft at 5,250 rpm, carried in a steel monocoque. Vespa says the engine runs smooth and quiet with minimal vibration. ABS and traction control are standard, and so are a keyless system, a USB charging port and an LED headlight. Old look, modern substance.

On paper this is a city scooter first: compact, light on its feet by design, and built around a single rated at 74 mpg. A listed top speed of 80 mph (129 km/h) puts a stretch of highway between two parts of town within reach, but the spec doesn't point to long-distance work. The setup is simple: preload adjustment at the rear, a non-adjustable fork, no ride modes and no TFT display, with smartphone connectivity as an option. It's built for you if you want your daily ride to be an object you enjoy looking at, and you accept that style comes before pure pragmatism. That's the deal.

Best motorcycle for Bay Area?

Of the riders here, you're the closest match: a design object for city weekdays, with ABS and traction control standard. On twisty weekend roads, 25 hp sets the pace, so come for style, not speed.

Best scooter for NYC?

A strong match for short, crowded city trips: compact, keyless, 74 mpg and a USB port for your phone. Just know you're choosing it for steel and style as much as for sense.

If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Vespa GTV 310. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
