GTS 125 i.e. (MY2018)

Steel Body, i-Get Finesse

The Machine's Character

The GTS 125 i.e. puts a small engine inside Vespa's big body, and that's what defines it. You get the full-size steel monocoque, 12-inch wheels at both ends and a 54.3 in (1,380 mm) wheelbase. Inside sits Vespa's liquid-cooled i-get single: 124 cc, 12 hp and 8 lb-ft, with belt final drive. The equipment list goes beyond the basics too. ABS and traction control are standard, and so are a USB charging port and a center stand. In a class where a 125 is usually the budget choice, this one carries the premium hardware. Big scooter, small engine.

On paper, this hardware is built for the city and the roads just outside it. A 1.8 gal (7 L) tank, a 62 mph (100 km/h) top speed and 326 lb (148 kg) wet tell you where it lives: urban traffic, the daily commute into town and the occasional stretch of open road beyond it. The 31.1 in (790 mm) seat and the preload-adjustable rear shock point to a rider who wants a proper full-size Vespa without stepping up to a bigger engine. You buy it for the steel, the badge and the low running costs. Sensible, with style.
