300 EXC CHAMPION EDITION (MY2025)

4.5 / 5 NastyNils Rating · against its class

The Two-Stroke Factory Weapon

The Machine's Character

The 300 EXC Champion Edition sits at the top of KTM's two-stroke enduro line, and it wears that position openly. The 293 cc single runs throttle-body injection, which means fueling stays clean when the air gets thin and cold mornings don't turn into a starting ritual. Around it: a chromoly frame, adjustable suspension at both ends with tool-free clickers, CNC triple clamps, LED headlight, and ride modes to shift the power delivery. Factory paint, orange anodizing, race-shop details. This is the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing look sold as a road-legal enduro bike, and the hardware underneath is not decoration.

With 11.8 inches (300 mm) of fork travel, 12.2 inches (310 mm) at the rear and 13.7 inches (347 mm) of ground clearance, the geometry is built for terrain most riders would walk. It rewards competence and punishes hesitation. That 37.4-inch (950 mm) seat and the 2.4-gallon (9 L) tank tell you the rest of the story: this is a machine for people who already ride hard offroad and want factory-grade equipment out of the crate. The honest caveat is the fuel range and the fact that some owners find the engine will stall even with the clutch pulled all the way in, which is exactly the wrong trait in a tight section.

The 'Should I Buy It?' Score

Forget spec-sheet bragging. Here's who the 300 EXC CHAMPION EDITION is actually built for.

Factory Butte in Utah's high desert badlands, captured in daylight under clear blue sky. The formation's distinctive multi-colored strata and steep erosional gullies dominate the frame. Arid terrain with minimal vegetation stretches across the foreground and background. Typical American Southwest landscape.

Best motorcycle for Moab?

If Moab slickrock and the hard lines in Johnson Valley are your idea of a good day, this is the bike. Just be honest about the tank: it's a day-trip machine, not a multi-day one, without fuel planning.

Made for Bar M / Kane Creek · Imperial Sand Dunes · Johnson Valley OHV Area

Best motocross bike for Loretta Lynns?

It has the suspension travel and the chassis to hold its own on a course, but this is an enduro bike at heart, geared and tuned for traction over terrain rather than laps and jump faces.

Made for Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area · Fox Raceway at Pala · Glen Helen Raceway

Best motorcycle for BDR routes?

Wrong tool for BDR work. It will conquer any section you point it at, but 2.4 gallons (9 L) and that seat height make multi-day route logistics a fight you don't need.

Made for AZBDR — Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route · California BDR South · COBDR — Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route
