Pioneer (MY2025)

The Lightweight Electric Enduro

The Machine's Character

The Pioneer is a full-size electric enduro with a license plate, and it is built for the dirt first. A liquid-cooled permanent-magnet motor makes 26 hp and 27 lb-ft. Power comes from a removable 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and goes to the rear wheel through a single speed, so there's no clutch, no gearbox and no stalling. The hardware around it is proper enduro kit: a chromoly steel chassis, a 1.7 in (43 mm) WP XACT air fork, a fully adjustable WP XPLOR PDS shock and 9.8 in (250 mm) of travel up front with 9.4 in (240 mm) at the rear. Traction control and ride modes come standard. This is a serious off-road chassis that happens to run on electricity. It is not a styled toy.

In the dirt it rewards riders who value control over outright speed. It has 13.6 in (345 mm) of ground clearance, and its 90/90-21 front and 140/80-18 rear Michelin Enduro tires are made for rock, sand and roots. The adjustable suspension lets you tune it to your weight and your terrain, the hardware is built to take abuse, and routine upkeep is simple. It suits a newcomer who doesn't want to manage a clutch as much as a skilled rider chasing technical sections. The caveat is plain. A 59 mph (95 km/h) top speed, a 35.8 in (910 mm) seat and no ABS make this a dirt bike you can register, not a road bike.

Alternatives to the Husqvarna Pioneer

If this one isn't quite the fit, these are the bikes worth riding back-to-back against it.

Any price note compares both bikes at the same age — the youngest age both have on the used market — against this Husqvarna Pioneer. “cheaper/pricier” is what that bike costs second-hand, not how worn it is.
