Classic Looks, Honest Miles

The Machine's Character

The C50 is Suzuki's mid-size Boulevard cruiser done the traditional way: long, low and built from plenty of steel. An 805 cc, 45° V-twin sits in a steel double-cradle frame. It's liquid-cooled and fuel-injected, and it drives the rear wheel through a shaft. On paper the numbers are modest, 46 hp and 46 lb-ft, both arriving at a lazy 4,000 rpm, and that tells you what this bike is about. It doesn't chase figures. It chases stance, and on a 65.2 in (1,655 mm) wheelbase it carries the classic cruiser silhouette with real conviction.

It rides the way it looks, relaxed and unhurried, and the 27.6 in (700 mm) seat puts both feet flat on the ground for almost anyone. Ownership is where Suzuki's quiet substance shows. With shaft drive, around 50 mpg and a robust core, it's cheap to keep, and there's plenty of aftermarket support to make it yours. The honest caveat is that this is a basic machine. There's no ABS, the fork has no adjustment at all and the rear shock gives you preload only, and it weighs 611 lb (277 kg) wet. If you're buying used, check the recall and charging-system history before you hand over cash.

Best cruiser for Sturgis?

It has the long, low stance and the easy V-twin rhythm that rally culture is built on, at a fraction of the usual cost. Just don't expect a big-bore sound or presence when you park it on Main Street.

Best retro motorcycle for road trips?

If your ideal day is historic routes at an easy pace with a diner stop in every town, the C50's relaxed manners and low running costs suit you well. It rewards a slow rhythm, not a hurried one.

Best touring motorcycle for long distance?

It'll carry you comfortably to the parks, but with a 4.1 gal tank, 46 hp, no luggage and a non-adjustable fork, big two-up loaded trips will push it hard. Better solo and packed light.
