Tuono 457 (MY2025)

The Approachable Canyon Scalpel

The Machine's Character

The Tuono 457 takes Aprilia's parallel-twin sport platform, strips off the fairing and swaps the clip-ons for a wide handlebar. What's left is a naked bike built around an aluminum twin-spar frame, a chassis that cares more about front-end feel and quick steering than about headline numbers. The 457 cc liquid-cooled twin makes 48 hp at 9,400 rpm and 32 lb-ft at 6,700 rpm. Aprilia fits more as standard than this class usually gets: a full-color TFT, ABS, traction control, ride modes and the Aprilia APRC Ride-by-Wire with three switchable maps. It feels like a proper Aprilia, only smaller.

On the road it is easy to get along with. The power comes in smoothly, so a newer rider builds confidence without being caught out. It also revs freely, so a seasoned rider still has something to work with on a tight backroad. At 386 lb (175 kg) wet with a 31.5 in (800 mm) seat, it never feels heavy or tall. It's for riders who value precision and feel over brute force. The caveat is plain: 48 hp is 48 hp. If you spend long stretches on the interstate or want to overtake with no planning, you'll run out of engine long before you run out of chassis.

A winding asphalt road descending through the Appalachian Mountains, likely the famous Tail of the Dragon section in Tennessee and North Carolina. Multiple technical right-hand and left-hand curves are visible in this aerial perspective, surrounded by deciduous forest in spring foliage. Clear sunny conditions, well-maintained asphalt with yellow center lines marking the curves.
